"...Never Ever Give-up on You! No matter what the cynics have said about your future, no matter what unfair hands life has dealt you, you can triumph over your trials and tragedies! You can be victorious! You can live your wildest dreams! This is the purpose of this book, and the message of my speech to various audiences. I have seen and experienced the dark and gloomy side of human nature, but I have also experienced the warmth of our light. And I am of the deep and passionate conviction that our light gleams brighter than the tragedies of our darkness!..."
~ Roland Kemokai (excerpt from the memoir, SUNUMA)
"This is a truly inspiring and entertaining book. I can't believe the hardships and cruelty this little boy had to face. There are parts that made me cry, parts that made me laugh and parts that made me so grateful for just being alive. I can't wait for book 2!!" ~ Wendy (an Amazon review)
"It is quite remarkable that an abandoned child could accomplish so much. Quite an inspirational story! It is a good read."
~ Pamela Kuhlmey (an Amazon review)
"Sunuma is a remarkably uplifting story. Literally thrown away when he was three months old, Roland Kemokai was rescued by his adoptive mother from a dump. With the odds stacked against him, Roland not only survived this harrowing ordeal but thrived. Roland faced many challenges growing up in war-torn Liberia ranging from being harassed by his adopted siblings for the circumstances surrounding his birth to fighting for his life on the streets. Through his story, Roland shows his readers the powers of optimism, faith, and forgiveness. I honestly could not put down this book and read it in three days. Sunuma is empowering, uplifting, and motivational. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series!"

"This memoir is highly engaging and memorable. The story certainly has its dire, depressing moments, however, Kemokai does an excellent job of weaving in positive and even down-right funny anecdotes. Without these moments it would be a very tough read, emotionally, but these moments of levity really help the reader relate to Roland no matter what kind of upbringing you experienced. For example, while living on the streets he still manages to have fun and takes great joy in pick-up soccer games, chasing girls, and excelling in school. Kemokai shares how his faith and love of learning propelled him through his struggles without getting preachy. Overall it's a great, inspiring story with a very entertaining narrator who deftly combines the nitty-gritty details of his tough life with the everyday complications of growing up."
